Slinky – Slurm 🤝 Kubernetes
Slinky will be a toolbox of components to integrate Slurm with Kubernetes. SchedMD’s developers have been working behind the scenes on the overall design, and we’re ready to publish more details on the architecture of the various components.
The current design provides three main components:
- Reference Helm charts and Dockerfiles to run Slurm within Kubernetes
- A Slurm Operator enabling Slurm cluster autoscaling and management within Kubernetes
- A Kubernetes Scheduling plugin enabling converged workload scheduling and prioritization
An initial presentation on Slinky – focused primarily on the Slurm Operator – is now publicly available.
Slinky will be open-sourced under the Apache 2.0 License ahead of KubeCon North America and SC24 in November 2024.
Early access will be made available to certain SchedMD customers, and SchedMD will offer commercial support for Slinky alongside Slurm starting this fall.
